The SSBSA brings together Small-Bore Rifle and Pistol Clubs and Associations throughout the English county of Somerset. It encompasses 19 affiliated clubs and over 500 shooting members. As well as Small Bore Rifle there is an active Air Gun and Lightweight Sport Rifle section. The Association is is affiliated to the National Small-bore Rifle Association (NSRA) and performs the duties of a County Association as defined by the NSRA Handbook.

The Association represents and supports its member clubs, selects and manages County Teams, provides competitions for shooters within the county of Somerset and runs two annual open shoots attended by competitors from throughout the south of England & Wales.
